Student Workforce Readiness Program

Youth 16-24 are invited to participate in our Workforce Readiness Program. This program prepares students for an apprenticeship program, with an emphasis on healthcare careers. Registering here gives access to our online learning modules, but does not guarantee an apprenticeship placement. At the completion of the program we will work with youth to find a position and/or refer to other community resources.

Students Register Here

Students in Gibson, Henry, Hardeman, Weakley, and Madison Counties may be eligible for additional supportive services. Contact Allica Austin [email protected] if you have questions about apprenticeships.

Apprenticeship Sponsorship

Rural Health Association of Tennessee is a sponsoring organization for apprenticeships in healthcare. Apprenticeships are paid on-the-job experiences paired with instruction and mentoring. Once apprentices complete 2000 hours of training, they receive a nationally recognized certificate from the Department of Labor. Currently we support “Nursing Assistant,” “Medical Assistant,” “Home Health Aide,” and “Direct Support Professional” apprenticeships for youth (ages 16-24) who show interest and aptitude for healthcare professions.

Employers

As a sponsoring organization, RHA of TN works with employers to register an apprenticeship program, track apprentice hours, and recruit eligible youth. Employers interested in registering an apprenticeship program should contact Allica Austin at [email protected]

K-12 Partners

Schools and other youth serving organizations are important partners in preparing youth for apprenticeships and connecting them with employers. RHA of TN works with schools to establish and support partnerships with local healthcare providers and facilities. We also have a “pre-apprenticeship” curriculum schools can include in instruction during or after school.

Grant Support for Youth

Thanks to the generous support of the Delta Regional Authority, RHA of TN provides supportive services to youth enrolled in an apprenticeship program. Supports include paying for CNA skills test fees, scrubs, transportation cards, or other needs that eliminate barriers to work. Funds are currently only available to youth in Gibson, Henry, Hardeman, Weakley, and Madison Counties.

Mini-Grants for Pre-Apprenticeship Program

Thanks to the generous support of Amerigroup Foundation, RHA of TN and United Ways of West Tennessee is offering mini-grants to K-12 and afterschool programs in West Tennessee who test and deliver the pre-apprenticeship curriculum this summer and fall. Programs agree to provide RHA of TN a list of students that completed the curriculum and identify students who wish to enter an apprenticeship program (does not have to be restricted to healthcare).
